What's the best oven mitt material?

Silicone provides the best combination of heat resistance, waterproofing, and grip. Cotton/terry cloth is most comfortable and breathable but offers less protection. Kevlar/Nomex blends offer the highest heat resistance. For general home baking, silicone mitts with cotton lining give you the best of both worlds heat protection outside, comfort inside.
