Independence
PickSmartHQ accepts no paid placements. There are no sponsored picks, no pay to play slots in any ranking, no guaranteed coverage in exchange for product samples, and no commercial arrangement that ties editorial position to a brand. Brands cannot buy their way into a ranking, a feature, or a comparison.
If a brand offers a sample, we may accept it for testing, but the sample never influences ranking. Samples are disclosed in the review when they materially affected the evaluation. In practice, most product research is conducted from verified Amazon review corpora and official spec sheets, not from press kits.
Affiliate disclosure and Amazon compliance
PickSmartHQ participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. We earn a commission on qualifying purchases made through our links. The commission is paid by Amazon, not by you, and the price you pay is identical whether you use our link or navigate to Amazon directly.
Every guide opens with a visible affiliate disclosure. Every
affiliate link carries the rel="nofollow noopener sponsored"
combination required by the Amazon Associates Operating Agreement.
We do not display stale prices inside article prose, since
Amazon's operating agreement requires pricing context to come from
Amazon at click time.
The full disclosure lives at Affiliate Disclosure. The mechanics of how we source product data live at Methodology.
How products are evaluated
A product earns a slot in a guide by clearing a fixed bar, then by outperforming its peers on the signals that matter for the use case named in the guide title.
- Minimum entry threshold. A credible volume of verified Amazon reviews, an average rating at or above 4.0, no documented safety or recall history, and a traceable brand.
- Category fit. Features are weighted against the use case, not against a generic checklist. A budget pick is evaluated against other budget picks, not against a flagship.
- Real world signal. Verified review content, return rate patterns visible in review text, and durability anecdotes from long term owners.
- Tier balance. Most guides include a budget, a workhorse, and a premium option so readers at any budget have an honest answer.
- Editorial judgment. Brand reputation, warranty terms, spare parts availability, and the practical utility of marquee features.
Fact checking
Before a guide is published, every factual claim is cross referenced against at least two independent sources.
- Verified Amazon review counts and ratings are pulled directly from the Canopy API, which sources from Amazon's Product Advertising API. Manually typed numbers never appear in production.
- Specifications are verified against the official manufacturer spec sheet, not against the marketing copy on the retail listing.
- Feature claims are checked against the technical documentation, product manual, or direct support confirmation when the marketing language is ambiguous.
- Certifications like HEPA, PFOA free, or broad spectrum SPF are verified against the certifying body's definition, not against the brand's own interpretation.
When the evidence is inconclusive, we say so in the guide. We do not invent confidence we do not have.
Conflict of interest
PickSmartHQ is owned and edited by Stefanos Ioannou, based in Limassol, Cyprus. Stefanos is the sole operator. There are no other commercial relationships, no consulting engagements with brands covered on the site, and no equity stakes in any reviewed company. The site has no venture backing, no PR agency relationship, and no editorial calendar dictated by partners.
If a conflict ever develops, for example if a covered brand approaches the desk about a paid engagement, the engagement is declined or, in rare cases, accepted and disclosed in every guide that mentions the brand until the engagement ends.
Reader feedback
Feedback that spots a factual problem is handled under the Corrections Policy. Feedback that disagrees with a pick, asks for a new category, or suggests a missing product is equally welcome. Email contact@picksmarthq.com or use the Contact page. We read everything. We reply to anything that asks for a reply.
