How do I clean a coffee grinder?

For burr grinders: brush out retained grounds after each use with the included brush or a dry pastry brush. Weekly, remove the upper burr and clean both burr surfaces. Monthly, run grinder cleaning tablets (or uncooked dry rice in a blade grinder) to absorb oils. Never wash burrs with water unless the manufacturer specifically allows it moisture causes rust and degrades grinding performance.
