Are etched or printed measurements better on measuring cups?

Etched (engraved) measurements are significantly better for longevity. Printed markings even on quality sets eventually fade from repeated washing, especially in the dishwasher. Etched markings are cut into the metal and will remain readable for the entire life of the cup. When shopping, run your fingernail over the markings if you can feel an indentation, they're etched. If the surface is smooth, they're printed and will eventually wear off.
